God doesn't turn His back on us, we push ourselves away from God

Despite of being the wisest person on earth, Solomon was still a human and made mistakes and had sinful desires. As time went on Solomon fell in love with many foreign women and entered into marriage with 700 of them and had 300 concubines.
"When Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God...Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the Lord" 2-Kings 11:4,6
The Lord spoke to Solomon and said "Since this has been your practice and you have not kept my covenant and my statues that I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you and will give it to your servant." 2-Kings 11:11
After Solomon's death Solomon's son Rehoboam went to Shechem to be crowed as king. But when he didn't listen to people when they asked him to lighten the hard yoke that Solomon had laid upon them, but instead gave them more work...God's people divided. Israel the house of David were no longer one but two. Rehoboam was the king over a part of Israel? people whole lived with the tribe of Judah and Jeroboam was crowed as a king over the whole Israel.
Jeroboam was worried that people will start going over to Israel to make their sacrifices in the temple. " So the king[Jeroboam] took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to the people, "You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt."" 2-Kings 12:28
After some time Jeroboam's son got sick and Jeroboam thought that after all that he's done against the Lord, God will heal his child. So he sent his wife to a man of God.
Through this man God spoke to Jeroboam "You have done evil about all who were before you and have gone and made for yourself other gods and metal images, provoking me to anger, and have cast Me behind your back, therefore behold, I will bring harm upon the house of Jeroboam and will cut off from Jeroboam every male" 2-Kings 14:9-10
There were kings after Jeroboam and Rehoboam that did worse than them following other gods and bringing sacrifices to metal and gold images, but there were those who did according to works of David, following the word of God.
For the most part though, God's people acted as if they were gentiles following and worshiping other gods and fighting like two completely different nations.
This huge downfall started from Solomon because of a sin of disobedience (he did not listen to the word of God), which happens to also be the first sin of Adam and Eve.
God wants to bless people and He wants to be close to us but we push ourselves away from Him. By doing exactly opposite of His word and rebelling against our God we push ourselves farther and father away from His loving hands.
We find excuses not to study the word of God, when we are asked to part-take in a church event we feel like we're too busy for that and too embarrassed. We are comfortable where we stand in our social and financial part of life that we don't want to ruin it all the "Jesus stuff".
God doesn't make us do anything, He wants us to want to give Him our hearts. But why does He want our hearts? He wants our hearts so He can take away the earthly pain, sorrow, and heartbreaks and give us peace, love and joy.
Why does He want to take away bad things and give us peace? Because God loves people, He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to earth to literally die for us, humans...this act of love and sacrifice tore down the barrier between God and people, and now each person has the right (not only priests) to talk to God and have a personal relationship with Him.
One might say that this sounds like a fake story, but that is why you can't have salvation without faith. But not much faith is needed since their are facts and historical events that prove that the Bible is true.
