God as Heavenly father, literally. What if I don't belive in God though...?
David writes the 3rd Psalm as he is being chased by many of his enemies including his own son.
"1.O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me;
2. Many are saying of my soul, there is no salvation for him in God. Selah
3. But you, O LORD, are a sheild about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
4. I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah
5. I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me.
6. I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.
7. Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.
8. Savlation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people. Selah." Psalm 3
God loves everyone and cares for everyone, but He will defend His people and punish the wicked and evil. You might say what kind of God knock the teeth out of people and smacks their cheeks? I believe that David writes this to rhyme the song but also to explain that God has protected Him so many times before He will do it this time too, not necessarily knocking out teeth and smacking people on the cheeks but He will protect Him.
This psalm really showed God's father side to me. My dad would defend me, he would listen to me and stand up for me and be there for me.
We believe in God's great power and awesomeness in great and big situations, but sometime we hesitate to invite Him and ask Him to help us deal with a "small" problem.
It's sad to hear people say "O, God has so many other things that are bigger than mine to worry about." or " God doesn't care about my little problems, He guides me through the big obstacles in life, but I can maneuver myself through these little once."
If we think about God as an all powerful and great God and we kind of associate His power with only the big things then we got it all wrong. First of all God lives in our hearts through the Holy Spirit and He is there for us and ready to help if we call on Him.
Just believing can be easy when you just accept and believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior but for some people it takes work and hard work to believe and have faith.
This might sounds crazy and maybe even a little psychotic to someone who doesn't know Jesus Christ as their own personal savior, but before you call me crazy and ignore what Bible says, call on Him. Because God defends His people and punishes the wicked and the unbelievers. We don't believe in God and worship Him because we're afraid He will punish us, but we do it because He did so much for us that it's the most and really the only thing we can do to give thanks to the LORD!
If you really and sincerely want to know if He's real, if you doubt Him or are mad at God for some reason, just call on Jesus Christ and tell Him how you truly feel and you will get an answer from Him. If you are sincere and your heart is open God will somehow or maybe through someone show His love towards you.
