Deuteronomy 23

Promises made to the Lord

This chapter contains a lot of history information that is important and interesting. But what can we take away from this chapter that we can use in our life today?

One important lesson that we can we can take away from this chapter is written in verse 21 " If you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay fulfilling it" If you do not do what you promised God, then it will be counted as a sin against you.

We hear a lot of stories (some of us have done this) about life and death situations, or very stressful situation when you give a promise to God that you will serve Him, and give Him all your life, or promise Him that you will preach His name to every one IF He delivers us from one or another situation. In most situations God gives us the answer, He delivers us, He saves our life, He helps us out...keeps His promise (Love for all people). Do we keep our promise?

Most of the time we just forget (or try really hard to forget) the promise we've given to God, very rarely do we keep it.

Another promise that some Christians fail to keep is the promise that you made to God when you got baptized, that promise to serve the Lord, Jesus Christ with our full heart, and clean consciousness.
Being baptized and members of a church we have a much greater responsibility to show the Lord our God to people through our lives and our words.
