Deuteronomy 28
Blessings & Curses
As the continuation of the previous chapter this chapter starts with blessing, IF Israelites will obey God.
"And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I commands you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth" (verse 1)
And then he lists all of the blessing.
Blessed be the city, and the field...
Blessed be the fruit, or cattle, of the field and of your womb...
You will be the head and not the tail...
But then he reminds them that IF they disobey all of these commandments then curses will come upon them and ultimately destroy their families, and homes, and the land that they're in.
So how can we apply this chapter in the Bible to our life?
When I read this chapter and read all the blessings and all the curses, it does not mean that God wants to curse his people, this chapter is like a question to his people-- "What do you want to choose blessings or curses?"
Today we are under Grace, but nevertheless we have a choice to make, do we want to be with God eternally and live this life on earth according to his Word, or do we want to live our life "to the fullest" here on earth without God and eternally be punished.
There are so many choice we make in a day... Make the right ones.
