Deuteronomy 29

God's Love in the Old Testament

This chapter consists of the beginning of the speech that Moses is saying to God's people before they enter their promised land.

Even though Israelites were punished and sent into the dessert for forty years for not trusting God, God still took care of them.

" I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn off your feet"(verse 5)

This was a miracle in itself! Taking care of even the littlest things because He truly loved them, like a father.

In addition to wondering in the wilderness for forty years with God's love surrounding them, when they came to the land that was promised to them there were people living there and they fought them and won over their lands!

But God warns people to not be foolish, He says let there be no people that thinking that they are good with God and say "I shall be safe, thought I walk in the stubbornness of my heart" (verse 19)

Today...
We say that we're Christians and we love God, we say we are "good with God"... or "God and I are best pals" when we walk in our own stubborn way.

In the Old Testament God further says "The Lord will not be willing to forgive him" (verse 20)

Today we have Jesus on our side and we can ask for forgiveness and REALLY mean it! and Not do it again.

The last verse of this chapter is a little bit mysterious
"The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us... that we may do all the words of this law" (verse 29)

What do you think this means? (comment)

I think things that we cannot explain and spend so much time debating about, things that should be left alone we just leave it to God. But this word, this Holy Bible that is given to us and revealed to us we should study and know, so we may live by it.
