Deuteronomy 32-34

Don't Forget your God

The reason that Moses wrote this song for God's people, is for them to memorize it, and keep passing it on to their children.

God told Moses that these people will forget their God and turn to other gods, and this song will be judging them at those times.

This song is about God's people how they started leaving God behind "You grew fat, stout, and sleek; then he forsook God who made him and scoffed as the Rock of his salvation: (verse 5)

But Moses says "The Rock, his work is perfect for all his ways are justice, A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he" (verse 4)

Because His people have stubborn heart and will forget God, Moses sings that God will be justly angry and He will show his people and their enemies that He is the only God there is.

Today...
This story makes me think of America, and how it came about. Our founding fathers had faith in God and were believers, they based the constitution on it, and I have no doubt that when they went into battle they said their prayers.
As time went on people forgot that this victory wasn't only their victory, God helped them and they started to abandon the word of God.

And no it seems like we as a nation just spitting in the face of our Rock of salvation, just like the Jews at the time of the Old Testament.

But God is Justice, so there will be punishment for evil doing.
But calling yourself a Christian isn't a Justification, Jesus died for everyone, now that we believe it we have to do what God has called us to do, each and everyone of us. Faith without works is dead, just like works without faith will not save you.

Later on in chapter 33, Moses gives his blessings to all 12 tribes.

"Yes, He loved his people, all his holy ones were in his hand; so they followed in your steps, receiving direction from you" (verse 3)

Today...
This verse can apply to Jesus's followers today. God always holds His holy ones in His hand, He shapes us like a sculptor shapes his clay into a perfect vessel. We talk to Him through prayer and he gives us the direction in which we should go.

In the last 34th chapter of Deuteronomy Moses went up on the mountain Nebo, saw the land that Jews were going to get and died.

And Joshua took over, and there was no other like Moses who witnessed so many miracles and knew God face to face.
