Joshua 22

One God

All 11 tribes got their share of the promised land and the Reubenties, Gadites, and half of the tribe of Manasseh could return back to their land which was given to them by Moses and it was located across the Jordan River.

Once they got to their land they saw that the people (wives and children of the Reubenties, Gadites, and half of the tribe of Manasseh) built an altar. All people of Israel got together to go at war against them because they thought that those people built an altar for a different god. They thought those people abandoned the one and true God

When the people of Israel confronted the people on the other side of Jordan saying that the Lord will punish the whole nation for a couple of tribes, those people said that this was not an altar for other gods. They explained that because the nation is separated by Jordan they built it for their children and offspring, so could look upon it and know that they are people of Israel too and that they are God's people.

Once the priest and people have heard this they approved and there were no more talks of war against those two and a half tribes.

That altar was called "For" because "It is a witness between us that the Lord is God" (verse 34)

Today...
As Christian we do not sacrifice today and we do not build altars so it would be difficult to see who is worship what.
What do you mean? Aren't we just worshiping one God?
Well it's easy to say that, but are we really only worshiping God?
How does one know if he/she worships something else other than God? (comment)

To truly worship and love only one God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit we have to test ourselves in the light of His Word. Do we give our whole self to be tools in God's hands? Are we ready to give everything up for Jesus Christ?

We say that God is number one in our life, but is He really? Are we ready to loose our "tight" friendship with the world?
Yes we do need to love everyone just like Jesus did but we cannot be a part of this world, it is not possible.

We're not here to live happily ever after we're here as messengers of God, we are His letter to the world.

Lets not forget our mission.
