2-Samuel 13

We have an example to follow

This chapter is about Amnon and Tamar, Amnon's sister. It is written than Amnon loved Tamar so greatly that made himself ill because of it, but the better word for this type of 'love' is lust.

Amnon wanted Tamar but couldn't get to her. Amnon had a friend named Jonabad who advised him to trick his father?,David so that Tamar would be in the room with Amnon alone.

Amnon listened to his friend and took Tamar's virginity by force and later kicked her out of his chamber and hated her.

Absalom, Tamar's brother comforted her saying " Now hold your peace my sister. He is your brother do not take this to heart" verse 20

While advising his sister to let this go and not hold on to it, Absalom held a huge grudge in Amnon in his heart. After two years have passes Absalom kills Amnon as a revenge for dishonoring Tamar.

Today...
Absalom carried this grudge and hatefulness towards Amnon all this time and eventually acted on it.

By keeping a grudge we let our hearts be consumed by this powerful sin, even if we claim we forgave one person or another. Unless we truly forgive we will never have peace and will always feel angry towards that or another person.

It's impossible to fully forgive without understanding the concept of full forgiveness. We know that our Lord forgave us for everything we have done when we came to Him in repentance, and because we know this we are able to truly forgive other people, because we know how to forgive, because we have an example to follow.

But to forgive is sometimes the hardest thing in the world, and we cannot fully forgive without Jesus's help. We cannot pull out the knife from our heart(forgive) and not have someone stich it up (Jesus's help)
