Just a Thought. Giving thanks... to whom, for what?
Today seems like a normal day except, America is celebrating Thanksgiving day.
For some people this might be:
Remembering our history and celebrating it is not bad, some people may argue that the historical event behind this holiday is not worth celebration but rather worth mourning.
Enjoying our family and food is great too, I personally love to be with my family on this special day and gather around the table and enjoy people's presence.
For me personally this day reminds me to be thankful.
It is sad that sometimes I need a national holiday to remind me to be thankful for all the good and the not so good times, for my family and friends, for all my possessions, and for most of all my LORD my Savior.
We are familiar with being thankful not only for the good but for what we see as bad at times, but we often don't think to thank Jesus for dying for us on the cross on this day, do we?
It just seems kind of dark... doesn't it? It kind of seems to ruin the whole happy mood.
But the biggest blessing that we have/ or are able to have is the relationship with Jesus Christ, and He is alive! It should lift up our spirits not ruin them, we should be thankful for His blessing, and recognize that He gave us this loving family, these loyal friends, this job so I can afford this roof over my head, these clothes and the fridge full of food.
Let's be thankful not only today, but everyday!
For some people this might be:
- Strictly historical
- Just about the food
- About the family and gathering together
- For others it's about giving thanks.
