Guard your heart, steer your thoughts in the right direction, and watch your step.
"With much seductive speech she persuades him;
with her smooth talk she compels him.
with her smooth talk she compels him.
or as a stag is caught fast till an arrow pierces its liver;
as a bird rushes into a snare;
he does not know that it will cost him his life.
he does not know that it will cost him his life.
And now, O sons, listen to me,
and be attentive to the words of my mouth.
and be attentive to the words of my mouth.
for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain are a mighty throng.
going down to the chambers of death."
Proverbs 7:21-27
This passage today has reminded me that this world has a very strong pull, it tempts me with fun and excitement, the hip music, the tempting laziness, but all these worldly ways end in the chambers of death.
In this passage the woman is Satan, he puts his traps everywhere he can to catch as many followers of Jesus Christ as possible. He offers us only the "best" and tempting things to us; he describes everything in such a way that even the strong and stable followers of Christ have to stop for a second and consider his offer, and sometimes we stumble and fall into this abyss of sin.
Solomon writes
"Let not your heart turn aside to her ways;
do not stray into her paths"
We have to guard our hearts, steer out thoughts in the right direction, watch our step; so we would not even consider the tempting offers of this world.
The time is running short, the Second Coming of Christ is near. Terrifying to say but it's noticeable that many of us, followers of Christ are loosing the first love. Many of us are straying away from the narrow path and the only path to the LORD, and get lost.
May the LORD bless us and guide us, and help us to always work on ourselves, to always be on guard, and to not be tempted by these short lived excitements that this world offers.
Let's not forget to pray for each other, for our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world; many of them have no other support but our prayers.
