Why you don't really want justice.

"Life is so unfair!" How often do we say that? How often do we pray about it?

We try to live out the Word of God; the world does not understand us, and we are mistreated and bullied. It seems sometimes that God doesn't hear us. Non-Christians get to have better things and better life than we do, and they walk all over us...how is that fair? Am I Right?!

I heard this sermon not too long ago and it changed my whole way of thinking, specifically about this concept of justice, it changed my life!

Lets think about the fairness and justice that we are asking for in our pleads to God.

Jesus Christ was a perfect man and God in one, and He lived a hard but sinless life. In the end He died for our sins! Wait, how is that fair?

When we think about justice wouldn't it make sense if each of us died of our own sins? If we are the ones who sin, we are the ones who should be punished. If we are asking for justice, we are asking for justice for all people (it wouldn't be just and fair to bring justice to one person but not the other). What's the justice that we are asking for? The true justice for everyone is being punished for our sins, dying and going hell, to the eternal damnation because we are unable to save ourselves by our own sinful sacrifice.

Now is that the kind of justice we are asking for? When we really start thinking about fairness, and justice then we come to realization that we do not deserve to be living at all if God is to be fair with everyone.

The reason we are all alive and well now, the reason we have food, clothes, friends and family, and joy and laughter in our lives is God's mercy and love towards all humanity. God loves all humanity and Jesus Christ died for everyone, now that's grace and not justice.

When I am faced with a situation where I think that I am treated unfairly I think about God's mercy towards me and I realize that it is the same as towards the people around me. If  I start asking for justice for people who hurt me then I also ask justice for myself and that's not what I want. I want God's mercy and love and it only be fair if everyone else also get God's mercy and love. Since I want to be Christ-like I should also pray about these people and love them and wish them well, show them God's love and mercy towards them as well.
