Judges 6
Be ready

After Deborah and Barak, Israelites again started doing evil, and God took his protecting hand away from His people because they again turned to other gods. The neighboring nations in particularly Midianites, started taking everything away from Israelites not leaving anything for them to eat.
People again called out to God, and God sent them a prophet who said that God was the one who delivered them from Egyptians and He is the one who protected them from all the nations that oppressed them around,
"And I [Lord] said to you, 'I am the Lord your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.' But you have not obeyed my voice" (verse 10)
Even though God saved his people many times before, He once again proved to his people that He loves them. God sent his angel down to his people, particularly to Gideon.
"And the Lord said to him, "But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man" (verse 16)
Gideon didn't believe this at first but after witnessing how the angle set the food that Gideon brought to him on fire he was sure that this was from God.
God sent him to take one of his father's bulls and use it to destroy the altar on which his father sacrificed to Baal, and cut down the Asherah, a sacred tree, and build an altar to the Lord with stones laid in order and bring another one of his father's seven year old bulls in sacrifice on this altar. Gideon took ten men and did just that during the night because he was afraid of doing it in the day light.
In the morning people discovered it and wanted to kill Gideon for doing this, but his father said that if Baal is god then let him punish Gideon himself.
Later we see that the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon- (he was strong, and wanted to do what God told him because God was with him) and he sounded the trumpet to go against Midianites and Amalekites. Gideon again tested the Lord by asking for two miracles. One morning he asked for the Lord to make everything around to be dry and only the fleece to have the dew on it, and the next morning he asked for the opposite, for the fleece to be dry and everything around to be covered in dew. God did just that.
Today...
God calls us to do work. It can be different type of work, for someone it can be to witness to people around, for others it might be to volunteer at homeless shelters, sometimes it can be to go to Africa to be a missionary, and sometimes it can be to be in constant prayer for their pastor, church, city. There are plenty of work to be done. ( we all should be praying for our church, city, nation, and constantly witnessing to people with our life)
Sometimes we tend to be like Gideon, doubtful. This is not the time to be shy or ashamed of your faith because as we see it right now, the world is going down with a speed of light, the time of grace and salvation is coming to an end, and the work of God will be done, if not through you then through someone that was listening and was ready to do God's work. But then it'll be our responsibility to answer to God why we didn't do what we were called to do.
Let's be ready to be called on!
