Ruth 2-4

God really does love everyone

Ruth's act of kindness was that she left her homeland to be with her mother-in-law and her second act of kindness was that she was ready to marry Naomi's relative do Naomi's family line could continue.

Ruth goes on the filed to pick up some left over wheat. The field that she was on was Boaz's and he happened to be a relative of Naomi from her husband side.

If Ruth and Naomi didn't marry the inheritance that they had would be lost and their family line would also be stopped, but if a close relative would marry them then the family line would continue and the inheritance would stay in the family.

Boaz met Ruth and said that he knows who she is and he knows that she left her father and mother to come to this land with her mother-in-law,           "[May] the Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge" (Ch. 2 verse 12)

Boaz didn't treat Ruth as a Moabite but rather as a relative, an Israelite. Naomi told Ruth that Boaz can be a great opportunity to restore the family line. She told Ruth to go at the sundown and find Boaz in his field where he would lay to sleep and uncover his feet and lay by them.

She did just that-- she came to the field when the sun was low and found Boaz at the place where he slept, u she uncovered his feet and laid beside them. At midnight Boaz woke up and asked her who she was and she answered, "I am Ruth, your servant. Spread your wings over your servant, for you are a redeemer."(Ch.3 verse 9) He can restore Naomi's family line through her (redeemer) and for him to spread his wings over her (to marry her.)

Boaz was please with Ruth's actions and he said "You have made this last kindness greater than the first." (Ch.3 verse 10) he was pleased that she didn't go after any other young man out there but cared for her mother's-in-law heritage so much that she would marry Naomi's relative to continue the family line (even though she could've left to her homeland and married someone there)-- this was her second act of kindness that Boaz says was greater than the first.

But Boaz wasn't the only relative that Naomi had. So Boaz called a meeting  with all the city's officials and also the other relative of Naomi. To restore the family line one must buy out all the land from Naomi and marry Ruth. The other relative wanted to buy out land but didn't want to marry Ruth since he seemed to already have a heir for his heritage and he didn't want any conflict, so he said that Boaz may take Ruth and buy out Naomi's land.

Booz and Ruth bore a child named Obed. "Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her lap and became his nurse." (Ch.4 verse 16) Obed would be a father to Jesse, who is the father of David, and Jesus Christ comes from the family line of David's.

Today...
An act of kindness brought Ruth to the land of Israelites, and her commitment and loyalty brought her together with Boaz. She then gave birth to David's grandfather, and many years later Jesus Christ was born from David family line. (Jesus Christ the son of David) The fact that she went to a field that happened to be Boaz's wasn't a coincidence but it was carefully planed by God. He blessed her even though she wasn't one of His people because of her love towards her mother-in-law who was one of God's people.

God protects his people the Israelites until this day, but now He also is with Gentiles because Jesus died for everyone, not just Jews but for Gentiles too.

God's love is so abundant that He does not only love who is 'His people'-- born again Christians and believers, but also sinner who are in this world, who curse Him, refuse to believe in Him and worship other gods (money, sex, people, etc.)
